Danche is a small village in Chelbesa town, located in the Gedeb District, known for its large coffee production. The region features semi-forested areas and altitudes between 1900 and 2200 meters. The Chelbesa washing station, built in 2019, is run by SNAP Specialty Coffee and is one of their latest projects. It has ceramic tile fermentation tanks, which are effective in retaining heat and easier to clean than cement tanks. Coffee is fermented without water for 72 to 96 hours before being dried. They source coffee from around 500 local farmers who usually have small farms. The coffee from this area has a clean floral taste typical of the Yirga Cheffe region, and it is noted for its sweet and complex aroma when roasted.
